I always tell anyone who is going to learn meditation to learn as much as they can about meditation from free or very inexpensive sources before paying BIG DOLLARS for a class or tape. Doing a weekend for a couple hundred is not unreasonable but when people want you to sign contracts or pay several hundreds or thousands up front beware! Most real teachers will charge enough so they can pay their expenses and a few hundred dollars a day in profit for the work they ENJOY doing! I will also caution you about any sites or teachers who say they are the only true teacher of meditation or put down other types of meditation, teachers or awareness practices. Many do this to keep you from finding all viewpoints and finding what works best for you! I tell my students that they need to find what works best for them and also know that different types of Meditation bring different results. Some meditations are part of a religious organization, some are not . Regardless of your beliefs meditating on you beliefs can enhance them and give you greater Realizations into yourself, your beliefs and your God. Again any who say this is not so want you to stay in the dark and believe only what they tell you instead of listening to GOD or whatever you believe in. God who talks to all who listen. The sites I list and the practices I detail are something for you to try in your quest but you must find your truth in life. Look for what works for you but before giving up on any techniques do give it a couple hours for a few weeks before deciding it is not working or wrong for you. I'm sure you all had a food you hated as a child that now is a favorite. Be patient since good things take time and some effort to accomplish.
